Illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade is a huge and continuously growing threat to biodiversity. It is one of the highest valued illicit trade sectors in the world, estimated to be worth $8-10 billion even when excluding fish and timber.
How do we tackle such an enormous business and what are the biggest hurdles to successful interventions? How can we work towards overcoming them?
The NRCS is an authority of the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (DTIC), established with the motive to administer the obligatory specifications and other technical regulations to preserve the safety of humans, and the environment, and to ensure fair trade practices.
